4mg

4MG are a magic act who reached the Final of Britain's Got Talent in Series 13. They did not reveal their act before their audition, instead stating 'We've got a little surprise' when asked whether they were a boyband.

In their audition, each member of the group performed a different trick with each of the Judges, each of which ultimately required the Judge to pick a card, and leading each card chosen to reveal itself as distinctly different from the rest of the pack. They completed their performance by revealing that the cards chosen were on the back of their t-shirts, with the respective Judge's name above each. David described the group as 'The boyband of magic', with Alesha adding 'I really, really hope this is the start of something special for you guys'.

Their Semi-Final performance was themed around their school days, beginning their performance by emerging from lockers on the stage. Once again each Judge had a specific task - David had to choose a word of 5, 6 or 7 characters, Amanda and Alesha had to choose three flashcards between them, and Simon had to pick a numbered ball which corresponded to a name from a list of previous Britain's Got Talent contestants. David's word was revealed to match the word written on a board, whilst the flashcards also matched the words written on the board - these were, in turn, an anagram of Simon's chosen act: Stavros Flatley. Stavros Flatley then emerged from one of the locker doors, and performed a short routine. Amanda described the act as 'A really great, unique, modern way of doing magic', with Simon adding 'I wouldn’t have given you a shot before tonight - now I’m gonna change my mind'. They won the Public Vote and advanced directly onto the Final.

The group began their Final performance by asking David to think of someone who he had a connection with. They then used 'focus' to cause Alesha to make a key rotate, an 'x' drawn using permanent marker to appear in Amanda's closed fist, and to make a glass which Simon was staring at smash. David was then asked to focus on each letter of his chosen name in turn - this caused the letters spelling the word 'Simon' to flicker in turn on a neon alphabet on the back of the stage, a reference to the Netflix hit series 'Stranger Things'. Alesha praised the group for 'Another amazing performance', however Simon criticised them, remarking 'What you’re lacking - and what the previous magician [ Ben Hart ] had - is years on the road, and I think your presentation needs working on, but I think you have a great career ahead of you'. They finished 11th in the Public Vote.
