B-Positive Choir

The B-Positive Choir were a choir who reached the Semi-Finals of Series 12 of Britain's Got Talent. They are a choir set up by NHS Blood Transplant. Before their audition, they revealed that all members of the choir either had sickle cell disease (a disease resulting in an abnormality in haemoglobin), or had loved ones with the disease.

In their audition, they performed a version of 'Rise Up' by Andra Day. All four Judges were moved by the act, especially Amanda who stated 'I found that moving because blood donors saved my life'. Simon also praised the group, stating 'this is why I love doing the show - for moments like this'.

In the Semi-Finals they performed 'This Is Me' from The Greatest Showman. David remarked that he was 'Just stunned' and that the performance of the song blew everyone away, with Alesha adding that she believed their performance were 'One of the best openers [the judges had] ever had on a live show'. They reached the judges vote which resorted to the public vote after a tie and it was revealed they had placed 3rd in this vote, however they were brought back as the Wildcard.

In the Final they once again performed a version of 'Rise Up' by Andra Day. Alesha remarked that the choir were 'Educating people, and inspiring so many people!' David concluded that B Positive Choir were a 'World class choir!' and went on to describe their performance as 'Incredible!' They concluded the final in eleventh place.

Before BGT[]

In 2015 choir member Simone Kerr's son Kavele died of complications in relation to Sickle Cell Disease at the age of six.[1]

The choir performed at the Boisdale of Canary Wharf restaurant as a warm-up show for the 2017 MOBO Awards. They then performed to a well received audience at the awards show proper in Leeds with Gospel artist Lurine Cato on 29 November. MOBO founder Kanya King later said she was happy to support and work with the B Positive Choir and pleased their televised performance was popular. Following the performance they were invited to perform Christmas songs before a captive audience at St Pancras railway station. They also released a charity single, entitled "Rise Up" in late 2017.

After BGT[]

In August 2018, 3 months following the BGT final, member Simone Kerr was stabbed to death in her home by her on/off boyfriend ex-soldier Desmond Stlva. In 2019 Bpositive performed before members of the Royal family at the annual commonwealth service at Westminster Abbey in London.
