Chineke Junior Orchestra

Chineke! Junior Orchestra are an orchestra who made the Semi-Finals during Series 14 of Britain's Got Talent. They are primarily from black and ethnic minorities, and were aged 11-22 at the time of audition. The group did not have a conductor - they stated their reason for this was so that 'we can connect with the audience'.

When asked why they were auditioning, they responded that they wanted to 'show black and ethnic minorities in mainstream orchestras'. In their audition, they performed to a medley of classic and contemporary pieces of music. David remarked 'what is there not to love about this orchestra!', with Alesha stating 'I do think you are gonna change the way people perceive this music'.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, only 10 members of the group were able to perform on stage; the rest of the group pre-recorded sections of video, which were displayed on screen during the group's performance. They performed a medley of songs, including 'Uptown Funk' by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars, 'Shape of You' by Ed Sheeran and 'Rather Be' by Jess Glynne. Alesha remarked 'you guys will really change the way people look at this music', with Ashley adding 'this is an orchestra of classical instruments making me bop my head'.
