Double take

Double Take are a timbrel playing duo who auditioned for Series 4 of Britain's Got Talent. The duo consisted of Candy and Cat, who hailed from Surrey. Candy was a 45 year old housewife, whereas Kat was a 45 year old Avon Lady at the time of the duo's audition. They were the first act to be televised this series.

Before their audition, Ant and Dec mistook the timbrels for tambourines, as the pair later corrected them and explained that they were timbrels. They had to explain the same thing to Simon, with the difference being that a timbrel has two layers of cymbals whereas a tambourine has only one. The pair had been playing timbrels since they were children.

In their audition, the duo played their timbrels to a classical piece of music, however the audience quickly chanted off. Their performance was buzzed off. Simon commented that there were a 'Reason, why no-one has ever been successful playing tambourines before'. Amanda added 'You could have been playing at somebody's funeral' due to the lack of emotion present in their performance of what were supposed to be a happy instrument. They were sent home during the audition stage of the competition.
