Jasmine Rice

Jasmine Rice is a drag act and opera singer who placed 6th in Series 18 of Britain's Got Talent. She was aged 28 and was a performer at the time of her audition. She hailed from New York, USA. When asked why she came on the show, Rice explained how performing in drag isn't necessarily embraced in the world of opera and she came to the UK to perform in the hope that she would be treated better.

In her audition, Rice performed a rendition of 'Nessun Dorma' by Luciano Pavarotti. Bruno remarked 'You really are an opera queen, you looked stunning [and] for me it was wonderful', with Amanda adding 'I was blown away by that and it was very unexpected, so the surprise was joyous [and] it was amazing'.

In the Semi-Finals, Rice performed an operatic rendition of ‘Never Enough by Loren Allred. She advanced directly onto the Final after acquiring Bruno Tonioli’s Golden Buzzer. Alesha remarked ‘That was a stunning performance, a work of art [and] a sensational song choice, [that was] beautifully presented in the most powerful way’, with Simon adding ‘Tell those complete and utter idiots from the opera world that they’re deaf and they have no clue what they’re talking about because you proved them wrong’.

In the Final, Rice performed a rendition of ‘Nessun Dorma’ by Luciano Pavarotti. Bruno remarked ‘That was a triumph, you bought Puccini to a whole new level of fabulousness’, with Amanda adding ‘I feel like we may have just seen the winner of [BGT], I have no other words’.
