Joseph Sheppard is a guitarist who participated in Series 14 of Britain's Got Talent. He hails from Dudley. He was aged 10 and was a schoolboy at the time of his audition. He has his own YouTube channel named Joseph A. Sheppard.
In his audition, he performed ‘Johnny B. Goode’ by Chuck Berry on his guitar and sang the song too. David described the performance as ‘Cool', with Amanda going on to add her belief that Sheppard were ‘The complete package'. He advanced onto the following round, however he failed to reach the Semi-Finals.
Before BGT[]
In early September 2018, Sheppard auditioned for the 'School of Rock' musical, however the audition he attended turned out to be a workshop and he later received an invite to attend again in March. Later his mother Kay Sheppard received an email which stated that because he attended the workshop John Lewis were looking for musicians for a new advert, which eventually lead to Joseph getting the part and learning 'Bohemian Rhapsody' by Queen for the ad with this then being recorded with several instruments at a music studio in London in a fortnight.
Sheppard is seen in the finale of the ad where a boy dons a white cape and jumpsuit as he plays a guitar solo on a Flying V guitar whilst sat inside of a rocket that shoots through the middle of the crowd. The advert that he starred in was believed to have been the John Lewis Christmas Advert, however in reality it was an ad to mark the company's change of name to 'John Lewis & Partners’. John Lewis later promised he could have the outfit that he wore in the ad, once it came off of display.
After BGT[]
In 2021, Sheppard competed on the 5th series of ITV's 'The Voice Kids', on coach Danny Jones' team, yet he was eliminated during the Battle Round. Whilst competing Sheppard still sang and played the guitar and he later revealed that the guitar he always played were a Christmas Present that he received in 2020.[1]
