Jules O'Dwyer and Matisse

Jules O'Dwyer and Matisse are a dog act who won Series 9 of Britain's Got Talent Jules said that 'as soon as [Matisse] was born, [she] had to have him' and that there was 'something special about this dog'. When asked what her dream were she stated she'd love to make a children's TV Series with Matisse playing a hero.

In their audition, they performed a piece where Matisse was the hero and Jules was the 'villain' dog catcher. Jules attempted to catch Matisse with a net, however Matisse ran away in sync. Jules then caught Matisse and placed him in a cage, however Matisse then escaped and 'made friends' with Jules. Amanda commented 'I felt like I was 9 years old again', and described the performance as 'faultless', whilst David remarked 'You've trained your dog beautifully'.

In the Semi-Finals, Jules pretended to be a toy-maker and Matisse a toy dog. Jules lay Matisse down and 'wound him up', before performing tricks on the set. She then seemingly pulled Matisse backwards with a magnet, before Matisse followed Jules whilst stood on her hind legs. Midway through the performance Matisse sat atop a box containing Chase, before Chase exited the box and stood on his hind legs on the stage and Matisse did so atop of the box. Alesha remarked 'Your dogs are just beautiful and so so clever [and] the whole story was fantastic', with Simon adding 'It was one of the best dog acts [that] I think we've ever seen'. They won the Public Vote and advanced immediately onto the Final.

In the Final, Jules pretended to be a policewoman and Matisse a sausage thief. Jules included two of her other dogs, Chase and Skippy, in the act. Matisse performed numerous tricks, but the biggest trick was a dog scaling a tightrope before exiting a door and getting his head stuck within a cone, hiding within bins and standing on his hind legs alongside Skippy. David remarked 'I've always thought of myself as a cat person, but now I think I'm definitely a dog person [as] this was magical', with Simon adding 'Its very difficult on a live show to get the dogs to do what [you] want, but do you know what's fantastic it is your love for that dog which really really shows [and] maybe we just saved the best until last'. They were announced as the winners of Series 9, beating runner-up Jamie Raven.

Controversy[]

It later surfaced that the dog scaling a tightrope trick was actually performed by Chase, as Matisse was too afraid to do so. This sparked controversy as she did not make it clear, that she had changed dog, and it did not seem like it should have been allowed, and also felt as if it were controversial cheating.

After BGT[]

She returned as a guest performer during the fourth Semi-Final of the following series. She performed alongside all three of her dogs, however this time they were slated as Jules, Matisse & Friends. Jules has since decided to move to Belgium alongside her dogs.
