Kevin Quantum

Kevin McMahon (Professionally known as Kevin Quantum) is a magician and scientist who reached the Semi-Finals of Series 14 of Britain's Got Talent. He hailed from Scotland, and was aged 39 at the time of his audition. He remarked that there was 'Nothing I like more than just being in a room and solving a set of problems'.

He remarked that his audition piece was 'a massive risk and hopefully science will get me through'. He began his audition by setting fire to a tissue, causing it to become a flower. He then introduced the Judges to a 'harmonic pendulum' consisting of a series of balls which swung from side to side, before announcing that he was going to run through a large-scale version of the model, consisting of heavy cannonballs which would also be set on fire. He would also be blindfolded during the feat. However, once the cannonballs had been set on fire they began to swing out of time, however Kevin still walked through unphased, admitting that the trick had not gone to plan once complete. David described him as 'A sexy Doctor Who', with Alesha describing the act as 'So impressive'.

Quantum's Semi-Final performance was based on the concept of static electricity, which he demonstrated by causing a ring to hover between his fingers. He then revealed an orb of electricity on the stage, before asking Ant to join him; by touching him, he first shocked him and then caused a lightbulb Ant was holding to light up. All judges were then asked to join Ant on stage; Ant was asked to hold a jug in one hand, and the group all touched each other in the hope of making the jug 'disappear'; instead it smashed. Quantum then remarked that more energy was needed, revealing that he would charge himself to a dangerously high level, and cover himself with an anti-static blanket; when this happened, Quantum disappeared and re-emerged on the Judges' panel, where he pressed David's buzzer, however this buzzing was later retracted. Alesha praised the act, remarking 'I thought you created a really, really good atmosphere in the room', however Ashley remarked 'The whole act felt like one long introduction with no big payoff'.
