Lucy Kay

Lucy Kay Allen (Professionally known as Lucy Kay) is a singer who reached the Final & placed Runner-Up of Series 8 of Britain's Got Talent. She was aged 23 at the time of her audition.

She originated from Nottingham, however moved to Glasgow in order to study music and get away from the police due to having had a tough upbringing and behaving poorly beforehand. When asked by her mother what she wanted to do she stated that she wanted to sing, which saw her mother pay for her to have singing lessons. Lucy also struggled with confidence, however her singing helped her overcome this.

In the audition, she sang 'Vissi D'arte' by Giacomo Puccini. David described her as 'A beautiful girl with an even more beautiful voice', whilst Alesha added that Kay's performance 'Felt wonderful to listen to'.

In the Semi-Finals, she sang 'Nella Fantasia' by Sarah Brightman. David commented 'It was like we were at your concert' and described her performance as 'Faultless', whilst Simon added that he was 'So happy we found you on this show'. She won the Public Vote and advanced immediately onto the Final.

In the Final, she sang 'Nessun Dorma' by Luciano Pavarotti. Amanda commented 'Your such an interesting contradiction because your there and your shaking and your crying and that voice comes out like your going through nothing, its so confident and pitch perfect', with Simon adding that she 'Literally shone like a diamond out there [and] any other year that is a show winning performance'. She finished second in the public vote, behind operatic group Collabro.

After BGT[]

After finishing second, Lucy signed a record deal with Sony International. Her debut album, Fantasia, reached #18 on the Official Albums Chart, and #1 on the Classical Albums Chart. [1]

In 2014, Lucy went on a UK Arena Tour supporting Andrea Bocelli.

In 2021, she released her second album entitled 'Dark Angel', alongside Eclecta Recordings, however it was a commercial failure.[2]
