Maddox Dixon is a magician who reached the Semi-Finals of Series 12 of Britain's Got Talent. Before his audition, he explained 'I was very late to the magic game, but as soon as I was in it, I loved it', and that he was 'Desperate to perform magic to an audience'.
He began his audition by causing a Rubik's cube to solve itself very quickly, before repeating the feat in front of the Judges, at a much slower rate. He then asked Simon to choose a colour, then asked Alesha to mix up the cube. Once she had done so, it was revealed that Simon's colour did not appear on any side of the cube, barring one, which contained all sections of that colour. Maddox then explained that the cube could solve itself in the hands of anyone - to prove this, he brought Amanda onto the stage and asked her to mix the cube behind her back. Once she had finished, it was revealed that the cube was once again solved. Alesha stated 'You absolutely nailed it', however David joked 'Everyone got something to do except me’.
Dixon's Semi-Final performance revolved around the Judges being able to 'create' magic for themselves. He began by 'gifting' Simon a box, before asking the Judges to imagine saving one card from a deck from a fire. When Simon opened the box, it contained smoke and a single burnt card; the card the Judges had collectively chosen to save (the Queen of Hearts). He then asked Dec and a member of the backstage crew named Sam to lay on benches and hold a woman with their hands; Dixon removed the woman's supports until the woman was only being held up by one of Sam's hands. He culminated his performance by solving a Rubik's cube. Simon commented that he 'Liked the way [that] magic [was] going' at that moment, with Amanda adding that Maddox was 'Very slick, and very presentable'. He reached the Judges Vote, however was eliminated with one vote from Alesha, as Simon, David & Amanda each voted for The D-Day Darlings.
