Ssaulabi Performance Troupe are a Taekwondo group from South Korea who placed 10th in Series 17 of Britain’s Got Talent. They were aged between 19 & 23 at the time of their audition.
Before their audition, the group stated that they were competing in order to show the judges Taekwondo and explained that they had been performing Taekwondo throughout the entirety of their lives. They also stated that they watched the show on YouTube and loved Ant & Dec. They aspired to be the first Taekwondo team to win the show. When asked if they believed they could win, they responded that they believed their act was fit for the royal family.
In their audition, the group performed a synchronised Taekwondo routine, which included breaking bricks, performing a series of flying kicks into the air whilst breaking wooden boards and having the one female member of the group fight each of the male members of the group. Impressed by their performance, Ant & Dec immediately ran out and pushed the Golden Buzzer, sending the group directly onto the Semi-Finals. Bruno remarked 'The power, the beauty, the artistry it blows everything else I’ve seen out of the water', with Alesha adding 'I can’t even imagine how much discipline, hard work and dedication that it’s taken for you to achieve what you just did there today'.
In the Semi-Finals, the group performed yet another synchronised Taekwondo routine, which included several aerial kicks, flips, synchronised punches to the air and ground pounds, breaking wooden boards in the air however they initially missed one of these and splitting into two factions and fighting one another. Amanda remarked ‘We’ve got a whole week of amazing talent ahead of us, but I was looking at you thinking wouldn’t that be amazing on the Royal Variety show’, with Simon adding ‘This is actually one of the best live show performances I’ve ever seen on this show’. They won the Judges Vote with votes from each of the four judges and therefore advanced onto the Final instead of The Trickstars.
In the Final, the group performed yet another synchronised Taekwondo routine, which consisted of performing synchronised Taekwondo, breaking wooden boards, tossing members into the air and fighting one another. Amanda remarked ‘It’s just mind blowing you were like a human fireworks display’, with Bruno adding ‘It was sensational’.
