The Phantom is a magician who reached the Semi-Finals of Series 15 of Britain's Got Talent.
The performance began with a chair turning around on the stage, and a voice stating that the performer would never be able to be seen. The Phantom then claimed to be standing in front of one of the Judges, at which point Amanda's buzzer sounded. Amanda was then invited onto the stage, and given a balloon which burst in her hand. She was then asked to take an item from a 'lost property' box and hide it. Alesha was then also asked to take an object, which Amanda correctly guessed. Finally, The Phantom correctly stated that Amanda had taken a pair of keys; in particular, David's house keys. Alesha commented 'I loved it, and I feel confused and I feel weird', with David adding 'It is one of the most extraordinary things that we've ever seen on this show'.
The Phantom began their semi-final performance by asking David to write down a memory and the time it occurred. They then asked Amanda to step into a box on the stage which 'transported' her to his 'invisible world'. Once Amanda was no longer visible, she was asked to focus her energy on a candle; the candle was then lit. Simon was then asked to hold up a number of fingers, which Amanda correctly noted. David then placed his memory into a box and told The Phantom the time of the memory; once he had done this, a cloth on the stage was removed, revealing a clock set to that time. David was then asked to face a mirror on the left side of the stage; Amanda's reflection appeared beside him, 'describing' his memory (falling into a canal with the Cub Scouts). The performance finished with David's buzzer sounding. Alesha remarked 'I thought the whole thing was brilliantly intense & suspenseful'. The Phantom reached the Judges Vote yet David, Alesha & Amanda each voted for 5 Star Boys with Amanda citing how she had, had enough of being 'The Debbie McGee of [BGT]' before going on to cast her vote.
After BGT[]
In 2024, the magician Jack Rhodes auditioned with an act based on his popular YouTube parody of The Phantom. Rhodes implied that he had competed as the character two years earlier, before then revealing in his routine that he "lied". Rhodes ultimately placed as the Runner-Up of the competition, and the true identity of The Phantom remains a mystery.
Trivia[]
- In 2024, another invisible contestant 'Olive' auditioned for America's Got Talent, apparently the ghost of a little girl who has a British accent. It's not known whether Olive and The Phantom are connected as the identities of both remain a mystery.
