Ventriloquist Steve Hewlett, is the shows highest placing Wildcard Act, having placed in the Top 5 of his Series' Final.
The Wildcard is an act which was initially eliminated at the Semi-Final stage, however was chosen by the Judges to progress through to the Final alongside the Winners and Runners-Up of each Semi-Final. The Wildcard was introduced in Series 6 (alongside new Judges Alesha Dixon and David Walliams), and each year the Judges have chosen one Wildcard, with the exceptions of Series 9 and Series 10 in which there was both a Judges' Wildcard (chosen by the Judges) and a Public Wildcard (chosen by a public vote), & Series 14 in which there was no Wildcard.
